CRAIG BELL Craig has been affiliated with TOM since 1998, and his experience has been focused on legal & business stewardship and transactional work. His experience includes leading numerous equity & debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations and restructuring assignments. As leader of TOM’s legal & resources team, Craig is typically involved in most phases of our significant transactions, and also the strategic management of many of TOM’s investee businesses. Where TOM has significant holdings in a business, he provides troubleshooting support to management, as a trustee, director or advisor, as the case may be. Craig also leads broad TOM initiatives in developing new acquisition and business models. Prior to joining TOM, Craig was general counsel at Superior Plus Income Fund, a large cap income trust. He is a CA and lawyer, having practiced in several jurisdictions, and having been an advisor to three levels of government on financial, legal and fiscal policy issues. JIM GRENON As the principal investor in TOM Capital, which he co-founded in 1995, Jim is involved with TOM’s major investment decisions. He has particular interests in innovative transactions and tax-effective structuring. Along with providing strategic guidance to investee businesses, Jim is currently a major equity holder and trustee/director of a number of public and private companies and income trusts. Jim has been significantly involved in the development of many financial success stories, including Canadian Natural Resources; Foremost Industries, and the US Real Properties Group. TONY GRENON A founding principal of TOM Capital in 1995, Tony works with energy, manufacturing, property, finance, technology and other ventures. Tony’s role involves the identification, analysis, and closing of acquisitions & divestitures. Where TOM holds a significant investment, Tony provides support for management and often acts as director or senior management committee member. Prior to TOM Capital, Tony was a partner with the Calgary office of a leading law firm, where he practiced in the securities, energy and commercial law areas. GLEN SWAIL Glen has been with TOM Capital for over ten years. Glen has considerable experience in operational management; mergers and acquisitions; long-range strategic planning and corporate turnarounds, and has particular interests in the manufacturing, real estate, construction and sports/entertainment sectors. Prior to TOM Capital, Glen was a senior partner with a chartered accounting firm in Winnipeg that specialized in assisting owner-managed businesses. TOM POINTER Tom is a financial and operational executive with experience in sourcing, closing and operating businesses. Tom has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, and often evaluates deal flow opportunities outside of Western Canada. Prior to joining TOM Capital, Tom held senior financial and operational positions in several sectors, including: manufacturing; oil & gas services; and oil & gas exploration and development, with both private and public companies. Tom has considerable expertise regarding turn-around situations; corporate and debt restructuring; labour negotiations; and asset and share sales. CANDICE SELBY An executive with a broad base of experience in management information systems, financial budgeting, forecasting, internal controls and investment analysis, Candice is the primary person in charge of oversight of our third party money manager relationships, and is often involved with negotiations and due diligence work. Prior to TOM Capital, Candice obtained her CA designation with a leading Canadian accounting firm, and gained varied experience in both private industry and the venture capital sector. DAVE SURMON Dave is an executive with experience in operations, corporate finance and law. Dave has capital markets experience both as an entrepreneur and as a capital provider. Prior to TOM Capital, Dave was the COO of a publicly traded, full-services securities company. Prior to that, Dave was an owner-manager of a high-tech company in London, Ontario; and the Secretary to the Takeovers & Mergers Panel in Hong Kong. Dave initially practiced law with leading firms in Edmonton and Sydney, and is a member of the Alberta, Bermuda and New South Wales Bars. BEVAN MAY Bevan is an executive with direct operational experience in engineering, sales and marketing, finance, production, and operations. Bevan has led a number of acquisitions and has experience in new product launches, the establishment of new and re-organization of existing manufacturing operations and leading major strategic organic growth initiatives from within operating businesses. Before joining TOM Capital, Bevan had significant experience through the span of small business and Fortune 100 environments. He has experience in Manufacturing, Oil and Gas, Utility, and Technology industries. Bevan’s strong sales and marketing background helped create businesses that significantly outperformed their industry peers. Bevan has an engineering degree and an MBA.” |
